Weather Observations are carried out both at surface and upper levels. Surface Observations are carried out every hour at all the Meteorological Observatories in country. Transmission of the observed data is done at main synoptic hours and intermediate synoptic hours.

Upper Air Observations were carried out at Ten Observatories using Wind Finding Radars and Radio sonde. However, most of these stations no longer carry out Upper Air Observations except Lusaka City, which is the only surviving Radio Sonde station.
